Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Is Fired Up About Marquise Brown Signing

The Kansas City Chiefs landed one of the better wide receivers on the free-agent market in Marquise Brown, and tight end Travis Kelce is thrilled by the addition.

During the most recent episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce seemed fired up.

“It’s awesome, man,” Kelce said. “I’m pumped about this one, man. The guy can absolutely fly. Talked to my Oklahoma Sooners [connections] on what type of guy [Brown] is and everybody just raves about the person he is in the building.”

The Chiefs were in desperate need of more weapons in the aerial attack, as they did not really have a true No. 2 receiver behind Rashee Rice this past season.

Kadarius Toney was a major disappointment for the club, Justin Watson was really nothing more than an auxiliary option and Skyy Moore did not develop like many hoped.

Brown should instantly solve that problem.

The 26-year-old was originally selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the 25th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.

After a couple of solid seasons to begin his career, Brown broke out in 2021, hauling in 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.

Brown seemed to be ascending, but that ensuing offseason, he requested a trade due to dissatisfaction with his role in the Ravens’ run-heavy offense.

Baltimore obliged and sent him to the Arizona Cardinals, which proved to be an even worse situation for Brown.

The Hollywood, Fl. native dealt with injuries and inconsistent quarterback play with the Cardinals as he saw his numbers take a nosedive.

This past season, Brown played in 14 games and logged just 51 catches for 574 yards and four scores.

But now, Marquise Brown will be catching passes from Patrick Mahomes, which should make his life a whole lot easier. It should also be a big help to Travis Kelce and Kansas City’s offense.
