“That is selfish” – Aaron Rodgers gets SLAMMED by Jets fans for getting Nick Bawden cut from the team despite not being 100% himself

Aaron Rodgers signed with the New York Jets during the offseason. He was expected to lead a young and talented Jets team to the playoffs. However, all that came to a halt when Rodgers tore his Achilles in week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. Backup QB Zach Wilson took over from there and the Jets’ season unraveled spectacularly.

Rodgers though, promised his fans that he will make a comeback later this season if the Jets make it to the playoffs. And he seems to have made a miraculous recovery just a few months after the injury. The Jets’ though, crashed out of the playoffs race after they lost 30-0 to the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. As a result of that, Rodgers has decided to stay put and not play this season.

The Jets are still trying to accommodate the former MVP into their squad though, and they did that by releasing fullback Nick Bawden on Wednesday. Bawden’s departure has made room for Rodgers to make a place in the Jets’ 53-man roster. The Jets wouldn’t have needed to cut a player if Rodgers hadn’t wanted to continue to practice. This decision has led to a lot of fans calling Rodgers selfish.

The Jets will play their next game against the Washington Commanders. They are 5-9 through 15 weeks of the season and have officially been dumped out of the playoffs race. They will hope to finish the season on a positive note.

Fans on social media called out Rodgers and the Jets for letting go of the fullback. Some claimed that the former Green Bay Packers quarterback was being “selfish”, while others slammed the Jets and called it “a d*** move.” Here are some of the reactions to the news:

Rodgers played for the Green Bay Packers for 18 seasons and won one Super Bowl with them. He also has four league MVPs to his name and is widely regarded as one of the best QBs to ever play in the NFL. He signed a three-year, $112.5 million contract with the Jets this offseason.
