ESPN’s Adam Schefter thinks the Chiefs are tired

Something is off about the Kansas City Chiefs this year, as evidenced by their recent skid of losing four of their last six games.

Everyone has their own opinion on why the Chiefs are struggling — some are valid, others are downright silly. But ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter’s recent thoughts on the Chiefs’ woes are simple: He thinks the Chiefs simply look tired.

“The Chiefs seem like a tired football team,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show following the Chiefs’ loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day. “They seem like a worn down football team. And I think the Raiders saw that on film when they watched them.

“The Chiefs have just looked off all year long. It almost feels like there’s a Super Bowl hangover… They’re just not functioning at the same level.”

Schefter isn’t wrong. The energy just hasn’t been there for Kansas City this season, especially since the team’s Week 10 bye. The offense makes mistake after mistake, several players are battling injuries, and many are beginning to lose faith in the team’s ability to make any sort of a playoff run this year.

Maybe it is a Super Bowl hangover. Maybe it’s the fact that the team has been giving 100 percent every week for the past five years against teams who treat regular season games against the Chiefs like it’s their own Super Bowl.

Whatever the case may be, the Chiefs have two weeks to figure it out, because it’s Week 17 and the playoffs start soon. The clock is ticking to determine whether this will be epic turnaround for K.C., or an all-around bust of a season.
