Cowboys Coach McCarthy on Micah: ‘Whip Out Your Vocabulary!’

Dallas Cowboys pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons has been rather vocal over the non-calls he has been getting this season as he continues to keep offensive lines up at night trying to figure out how to stop him … which includes holding, a lot of holding.

In just his third season, Parsons has totaled 13 sacks (third consecutive season of 13+ sacks), 30 quarterback hits, and 15 tackles for loss (leads all Cowboys).

But if that wasn’t enough, per PFF, Micah leads the NFL in pass-rush grade (94.0), pressures (97), and pressure percent (23) as he is a one-man wrecking crew and his speed is otherwordly for a player his size.

So trying to describe Parsons’ skill set and what he is able to do on the field certainly is challenging … but head coach Mike McCarthy is doing his best.

“It’s distinct, unique … Whip out your vocabulary,” McCarthy said. “I don’t know if you’ve ever … I mean the speed, his get-off, and his ability to split two. He’s the number one pressure player in the National Football League. He has a tremendous skill set, he’s definitely unique.”

With the Detroit Lions coming to AT&T Stadium, Parsons will again look to create havoc in the backfield as Jared Goff and the fifth-ranked offense (27.5 points per) come into the game fresh off claiming the NFC North title.

But while Dallas has several pass rushers who can get after Goff, Parsons still gets the most attention.

“He’s a dangerous player,” Goff said of Parsons. “Their advantage with him is that they can move him around … They do a bunch of stuff with him. … He can do a hell of a lot and we’ve got to be aware of where he’s at.”

Parsons has the ability to take over a game and if he does against the playoff-bound Lions, then “Big Mike” might have to add a few more words to his vocabulary when describing Micah.
