Steelers play it safe in light of rumored QB controversy

Just because you’re a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers 53-man roster doesn’t mean you’ll be playing on gameday, even if healthy.

That’s because the NFL limits teams to 46 active players on game day.
Steelers play it safe in light of rumored QB controversy

So with the context clear, here are the inactive players for today’s matchup:

Steelers Inactive players:
No. 8 QB Kenny Pickett
No. 17 S Trenton Thompson
No. 21 CB Darius Rush
No. 39 S Minkah Fitzpatrick
No. 50 LB Elandon Roberts
No. 60 T Dylan Cook
No. 98 DE DeMarvin Leal
Seahawks Inactive players:
No. 25 RB Kenny McIntosh
No. 28 CB Kelvin Joseph
No. 56 LB Jordyn Brooks
No. 66 T McClendon Curtis
No. 70 T Jason Peters
No. 79 T Raiqwon O’Neal
No. 97 DE Mario Edwards
Observations:
With Pickett officially listed as inactive, the Steelers safeguard themselves against any potential QB controversy.

Had Pickett been active and the backup, it would have proved that he was healthy enough to play, meaning Pittsburgh basically benched him for Rudolph.

But the move is also risky because it means that if Rudolph struggles in a must-win game, Pittsburgh has no one to turn to with their season on the line.
