Knicks could trade another talented young player?

After already parting ways with 23-year-old RJ Barrett and 24-year-old Immanuel Quickley, the New York Knicks could be shipping off a third talented youngster.

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported in his column this week that the future of Knicks guard Quentin Grimes is now being discussed around the league. Siegel adds that Grimes’ role is not expected to increase much despite the departures of Barrett and Quickley as many of the available minutes will likely go to Donte DiVincenzo instead.

The third-year shooting guard Grimes, 23, was once very highly rated by the Knicks and was even considered by the team to be untouchable in trade talks at one point. But he has taken a step backward this season and is averaging just 6.2 points on a career-low 39.6 percent from the field.

Grimes was demoted to the bench in early December and has not made it back into the starting five since. Right around that time, he also expressed public dissatisfaction with his role for the Knicks.

The former first-round pick Grimes still has plenty of upside as a spot-up three-point shooter and disruptive on-ball defender. But at this point, it might be better for him and the Knicks to go their separate ways.
