Bears’ Justin Fields leaves clash vs. Packers with apparent head injury

The Bears’ QB Justin Fields suffers an apparent head injury in Week 18 vs. the Packers.

The Chicago Bears are playing tough against the Green Bay Packers to close out the season. However, late in the contest, starting quarterback Justin Fields left the game with an apparent head injury.

He didn’t leave the game right away. In fact, it was roughly two plays after taking a hard hit while sliding. Surprisingly enough, the referees didn’t throw a flag for unnecessary roughness.

Bears' Justin Fields

Eventually, Justin Fields was pulled out of the game. He may have suffered a concussion, but the Bears will conduct a further evaluation. Nathan Peterman steps in as the starter for now.

It’s a bit concerning the independent neurologist called in to check out Justin Fields and yet, the refs didn’t think it was a personal foul on the Packers. The Bears quarterback hasn’t gotten a single flag in his favor in these types of situations. Typically, the league protects quarterbacks more than any other position. But for Fields, the referees continue to ignore the hard shots he takes week in and week out.

Hopefully, Justin Fields is okay. He’s looked a lot better in recent weeks too, putting the Bears in a tough situation for the offseason. Many believe Chicago will trade him away in favor of Caleb Williams in the 2024 NFL Draft. But Fields has looked good enough to deserve a starting job in the league.

Justin Fields is certainly a name to keep an eye on throughout the offseason. Maybe the referees will actually help protect him when it’s necessary if he plays on a different team. Who knows at this point?
