Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Makes Bold Statement Heading Into Playoffs

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ offense has certainly not looked the same this season, but quarterback Patrick Mahomes is maintaining his belief in his team heading into the playoffs.

When asked about how he feels going into the postseason, Mahomes said he is confident that things will come together at the right time.

“Not only in our offense, but in our football team,” Mahomes said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “You see how the defense is playing, offensively I feel like we’re going to play our best football at the right time. I think if we can just score — we don’t even have to score too many points if we can just score enough points our defense will shut the door and we can find a way to get the win.”

Mahomes threw for 4,183 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 67.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 92.6 this season. While those are hardly bad numbers, they are not what we have come to expect from the two-time MVP.

But Mahomes thinks the Chiefs can hit another gear in the playoffs.

“We play in a lot of big games, playing games on short rest, we play in night games, whatever it is,” Mahomes said. “I think just having that experience is going to help us. Having those games where not everything is going your way, and you have to find a way to pull through and get a win. A lot of guys on this team have done that.”

Mahomes added that it will benefit Kansas City to “rely on our experiences.”

One thing is for sure: the 28-year-old has certainly been at his best in the postseason, as he has totaled 35 touchdowns and just seven picks in 14 playoff games.

Patrick Mahomes has led the Chiefs to a pair of Super Bowl titles and three Super Bowl appearances.

Kansas City will host the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card Round this Saturday.
