Anthony Davis Praises Lakers’ Passing In Win Over Mavericks

Anthony Davis had big praise for the Lakers passing in a 127-110 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Anthony Davis was extremely happy with how the Lakers shared the ball during the Lakers’ 127-110 win over a hot Dallas Mavericks squad. Davis complimented the entire team’s passing and willingness to take shots as one of the keys to the win.

“When we share the basketball, good things tend to happen. We’re trying to make the right plays. We draw to someone who’s open, find them, and then the guys are confident in making shots.”

Davis also spoke about how the team’s communication helped them limit Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and Tim Hardaway Jr. to rough shooting nights while also talking about how the team had one of their best quarters of the season in the third quarter of this game where the Lakers went on a 16-4 run.

AD ended the night with 28 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists, leading the Lakers to the win. He’s averaging 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.5 blocks this season while playing some of the best defense in the NBA. It’s quite shocking to see the Lakers be in the position they’re in with AD’s form, arguably the best player on the team right now ahead of LeBron James.

The Lakers seem to be getting form back on their side with big wins over teams like the Thunder and the Mavericks. This was their first win over Dallas this season, who have already beaten them twice in previous encounters.

The Lakers Need To Strengthen Internally
Despite the Lakers being heavily featured in trade discussions, the team is not in the same situation as last season. The 2022-23 Lakers needed to make the right trade to offload Russell Westbrook to have any shot at competing. This Lakers team doesn’t have a magic bullet trade available that’ll transform their season. On paper, they have the depth in the right places with a versatile roster, so performance should come from within.

Injuries have played a part in the Lakers’ struggle, but they’ve had spells of good health with bad losses. Crucially, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been healthy for most of the season and the team is still just 21-21 this year. They have a long way to climb up the standings still, but there is no trade that they can easily make that’ll guarantee improvement.

Darvin Ham has made it clear that the team has to find success internally while defending D’Angelo Russell from trade rumors after the win, while Jarred Vanderbilt has also made comments about the team not making trades. It might be a direction the roster is preparing the fans for, as they may elect to stand pat if they don’t find the right deal on the market.
