Bob Myers chokes up amid emotional Dejan Milojevic tribute

The basketball world continues to react to the tragic passing of Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic on Wednesday. Milojevic suffered a heart attack late on Tuesday while among Warriors staff and players. He was pronounced dead on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors game against the Utah Jazz was postponed. Former Warriors executive Bob Myers appeared on an ESPN segment paying tribute to Milojevic and he couldn’t help but be overcome with emotion.

“When you work with these people. . .people say it but you see them more than your family. You do and you develop a closeness. It’s just hard because he was this bigger than life person,” Bob Myers said. “He would light up a room. It’s such a loss because he’s gone. I just feel so bad for his children and his wife and the people that work with him because they know him and knew him. He left a huge mark on everybody that he crossed paths with, including me. I’m lucky I knew him for the time I did.”

Myers was still an executive with the Warriors organization when they hired Dejan Milojevic as an assistant coach on Steve Kerr’s staff back in 2021. He is credited with playing a key role in working with the frontcourt including Draymond Green and Kevon Looney. He was an integral member of the 2022 championship team.

Milojevic was in his third season as an assistant coach with the Warriors. Prior to that, he had coached overseas since 2012, shortly after his playing days ended.
