5 Guards for Heat to target at 2024 trade deadline

The NBA trade deadline is less than three weeks away, and the Miami Heat will be looking to make upgrades to their roster. Sitting at sixth in the Eastern Conference as of this writing, Miami could stand to make some improvements to increase their chances at another deep playoff run.

One area of concern for the Heat is rim pressure. They are lacking players that can take defenders off the dribble and get to the rim consistently, and it has made their offensive approach mid-range heavy.

With that in mind, here are five backcourt players the team could potentially target leading up to the trade deadline to address that need.

Playing in his second season with the Atlanta Hawks since being traded from the San Antonio Spurs in 2022, Murray has been one of the most frequently mentioned names in trade rumors this season. His production has mostly been steady since his arrival in Atlanta, but there are increasing talks that the team is ready to move on from him.

A terrific ball-handler that can create off the dribble and provides superb contributions on defense, Murray could be the perfect solution for the Heat at point guard. Kyle Lowry is aging, and replacing him with a two-way player the likes of Dejounte would be an excellent move to keep this team’s championship window open.
