Browns to interview recently fired assistant for open offensive coordinator job

A fourth candidate for the Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator opening has been identified.

Browns to interview recently fired assistant for open offensive coordinator job

Cleveland is expected to interview former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson to be their next OC. The interview is expected to happen today.

Johnson was recently fired by the Eagles after a disappointing 2023 season by that team. Some believe Johnson is the scapegoat for bigger issues there in Philly. A year after making the Super Bowl, the Eagles won 11 games and were knocked out in the wild-card round against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

So far, Cleveland has interviewed Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson, former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, and now Johnson for the open job. Cleveland decided to move on from Alex Van Pelt after the season ended.

Johnson got his start in the NFL with the Eagles as the quarterbacks coach in 2021 and he held that role for two seasons. Before that, Johnson coached at Utah, Mississippi State, Houston, and Florida over 10 years.

Cleveland is getting closer and closer to finding the right candidate to add to Kevin Stefanski’s staff. Of course, when a move happens, we will have it here for you at A to Z Sports.
