Browns To Interview Kellen Moore For Offensive Coordinator

Another candidate is set to interview with the Cleveland Browns for their open offensive coordinator position on their coaching staff, Kellen Moore. This comes after the Browns parted ways with Alex Van Pelt, as the organization is looking to change up their coaching configuration.

Browns To Interview Kellen Moore For Offensive Coordinator

Cleveland is a very attractive destination for someone hoping to eventually become a head coach. It is hard to turn down the opportunity to coach an offense led by Nick Chubb. While the running game is the focus in Cleveland, there is going to be a much larger task at hand. The next offensive coordinator for the Browns will have to fix Deshaun Watson. Watson has not been the same since coming to Cleveland. Finding a way for Watson to be consistently effective is going to be priority number one for Kevin Stefanski and his next offensive coordinator.

Moore has been in an offensive coordinator role dating back to the 2019 season. Starting on Jason Garrett’s staff with the Dallas Cowboys, Moore would stay on under Mike McCarthy after the coaching change. Moore would join Brandon Staley with the Los Angeles Chargers this past season, a season that did not yield great results. It is Moore’s inability to maximize the productivity of an offense that should be a cause for concern. Between Dallas and Los Angeles, there have been plenty of weapons to utilize on offense, but there was always a feeling of wanting more by game’s end. Even though this is a great strategy in Vegas, it is not an ideal situation for someone in the coaching profession.

As intriguing as Moore seems, the Browns should be extremely cautious when it comes to his candidacy.
