Kendricks’ signing was likely due to the Cowboys’ plan with Leighton Vander Esch. It’s unknown if Vander Esch will play again, and the Cowboys released him Friday afternoon. Per Michael Gehlken with the Dallas News, the Cowboys released Michael Gallup. The release will allow the Cowboys to recoup $9.5 million for the 2024 season.
The Cowboys selected Gallas in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The 28-year-old has 266 receptions for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdown receptions in his NFL career.
Gallup’s release could foreshadow a plan to land another star wide receiver in Dallas to pair with CeeDee Lamb.
The Cowboys could look to trade for Stefon Diggs
Bills Stefon Diggs gets the hand off from quarterback Josh Allen during first half action.
As previously discussed in the GH, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs made cryptic changes on his social media profile that hint at a possible trade. Stefon’s brother, Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, urged the Buffalo Bills wide receiver to try and find an exit from the Bills last season.
The Cowboys could look to trade for Stefon in an offseason Jerry Jones says the team is “all-in” for competing for a Super Bowl. With the extra change from Gallup’s release, the Cowboys could seek free agency for wide receiver help. Former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams could be a major help for a Cowboys offense that will need to score points against formidable defenses in the playoffs.
