Browns Predicted To Sign Intriguing Wide Receiver In Free Agency

The Cleveland Browns are in need of some depth at wide receiver behind Amari Cooper, and Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports has identified an interesting potential target for the club.

Browns Predicted To Sign Intriguing Wide Receiver In Free Agency

Buffalo Bills wide out Gabe Davis.

Davis is slated to hit free agency this spring, and it doesn’t look like the Bills are going to re-sign him.

The 24-year-old is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and caught 45 passes for 746 yards and seven touchdowns.

Davis, who played his collegiate football at the University of Central Florida, was selected by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He appeared in every contest during his rookie year and was productive, finishing with 35 catches for 599 yards and seven scores. He posted nearly identical numbers the following season, snaring 35 balls for 549 yards while reaching the end zone six times.

Then, in 2022, Davis enjoyed a breakout campaign of sorts, hauling in 48 receptions for 836 yards and seven touchdowns while displaying terrific big-play ability.

Davis is certainly an intriguing case, as he is definitely not a No. 1 receiver, but he has a terrific blend of size, speed and athleticism that makes him a legitimate deep threat.

The Browns are currently employing Elijah Moore as their second receiver option behind Cooper, and while Moore has been solid in Cleveland, the team could stand to use an upgrade. Davis would represent that.

Of course, the Browns will need to get their salary cap situation sorted out before they attempt to sign any significant free agents this spring.

Cleveland went 11-6 this past season and ultimately lost to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
