Chelsea will reportedly do everything to try and sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, which includes selling Armando Broja to fund a transfer.
This even includes selling Blues youngster Armando Broja to help fund a transfer move.
Victor Osimhen, 24, has been regularly linked with a potential switch to Stamford Bridge in the past couple of months. For example, journalist Simon Phillips recently claimed via his Substack that one high powered member of the Chelsea hierarchy wants to sign Osimhen as soon as possible.
So, will 22-year-old Broja be sacrificed to make room for the Serie A frontman?
Chelsea super keen
Football Transfers has claimed that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is prepared to pay whatever it takes to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge.
It is explained that Mauricio Pochettino’s side want to sign a new centre-forward when the January transfer window opens next month.
The report says tha the Blues are ‘hell-bent’ on landing Osimhen, whose current deal in Naples expires in 2025. The Italians may be forced to sell him if he doesn’t sign a new deal before the summer, though.
In addition, the report says it’ll take a ‘huge bid’ for Napoli to sell Osimhen amid interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal.
Apparently, Chelsea could offload young striker Broja to help raise funds for Napoli’s talisman.
Victor Osimhen to Stamford Bridge would be huge
Many people were sceptical going into the season with Broja and Nicolas Jackson as the main two centre-forwards in the squad. Admittedly, Christopher Nkunku can also play centrally but he’s been out injured all season so far.
Osimhen fired in 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions last season for Napoli, helping them clinch the Italian league crown.
Described as a “world-class striker” by Monaco’s Folarin Balogun in an interview with ESPN, Osimhen is one of the world’s leading No 9s.
We’d love to see him get the chance to shine in English football. However, the idea of selling Broja to raise the cash isn’t the smartest idea.
