Richard Sherman backs Patrick Mahomes to once again beat Josh Allen in the playoffs despite Chiefs’ offensive woes this season

In the much-awaited divisional playoff game, the Kansas City Chiefs will have a faceoff against the Josh Allen-led Buffalo Bills this weekend. It will be a thrilling encounter as both teams have performed well late in the season.

Richard Sherman backs Patrick Mahomes to once again beat Josh Allen in the playoffs despite Chiefs’ offensive woes this season

Despite multiple struggles in the middle half of the league, both teams managed to win a few games in the later half and regained their footing. With their respective wild card wins last week, they reached the divisional round.

This will be first on-road playoff game for the Chiefs’ star Patrick Mahomes who holds a great record in the playoffs. After last week’s win over Miami Dolphins , Mahomes is now 12-3 in postseason. This is the only factor that will make the Kansas City Chiefs favorite ahead of the much-anticipated clash.

The Buffalo Bills, on the other hand, hold the record of beating the Chiefs in the 2023 regular season . They also developed a tendency to beat all the favorites in the NFL. Be it the Cowboys or the Eagles, they have beaten everyone. In addition, they will have a home game this time that will provide them more advantage. Nonetheless, if anything is keeping the Chiefs on the side of the favorites then that is the record of Patrick Mahomes in playoffs.

Analyst Richard Sherman explicitly games, ed on this thought. In the recent episode of Undisputed, the former CB and the present-day analyst stated:

Until Josh Allen can slay the Patrick Mahomes beast in the playoffs, I gotta go with [the] Kansas City Chiefs. He has beaten Patrick Mahomes in the regular season, it is 3-1 in the regular season. There’s only two people who have ever sent Patrick Mahomes home with a loss in the playoffs. ‘That’s Tom Brady, who’s done it twice, and Joe Burrow. And by the way, outside the Super Bowls, this is Mahomes’ first road playoff game. That’s pretty insane .
Sherman puts a bet on the Chiefs defense
Apart from Pat Mahomes’ legacy in the playoff games, the analyst also placed a bet on the Chiefs’ defense. He said that the Chiefs’ defense would not allow anyone to take them over and the Bills’ weapons like Steffon Diggs would remain ineffective. He added:

This defense that they have. L’Jarius Sneed, he’ll be on Stefon Diggs. I think they have the pieces. I just know .
This season, the Chiefs have mostly relied on their defense than their offense. The offense had several struggles in the regular season and the defense came to the rescue. In the wild card game as well, the defense performed stupendously and provided them with a win over the Dolphins.
