That is according to Mundo Deportivo.
So, what is the situation involving Manchester City target Alphonso Davies? Let’s take a look…
Bayern Munich now concerned about Alphonso Davies
Well, the German giants have been left stunned by the Canada international’s wage demands.
Davies believes he should be one of the highest earners at the Allianz Arena, and is said to be demanding a yearly salary of €15m (£13m).
Mundo Deportivo claim that Bayern Munich do not agree with the Canadian’s demands, although there is a fear that he will run down his contract and leave for free – just like David Alaba did back in 2021.
Davies – who is valued at €80m (£69m) by the CIES Football Observatory – sees his current terms expire in June 2025.
This means Bayern Munich will have to sell the 23-year-old in 2024 if he does decide to reject a new contract and run down his current deal, or else the Bavarians risk losing the left-back for nothing.
It was 90min who claimed that Manchester City are keen to sign Davies as Pep Guardiola attempts to find a new left-back.
Manchester City face battle to sign Alphonso Davies
Manchester City are not the only side interested in the Buduburam-born defender.
Mundo Deportivo add that Real Madrid are also alert to the situation, and are waiting to see what happens.
The Spanish giants have twice benefitted from a similar situation at Bayern Munich, pinching Toni Kroos for just £20m back in 2014 as he decided against signing a new contract, while Los Blancos also snapped up the aforementioned Alaba on a free transfer in 2021.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen in 2024.
