Dallas Mavericks among favorites to trade for Warriors forward

After Saturday night’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Dallas Mavericks are sitting at 23-17 and in seventh place in the Western Conference.

Dallas has been playing excellent through the first six games of their homestand, but they must keep it up in order to solidify themselves as contenders.

This team has been banged up for most of the season, but it seems like they need to make at least one trade if they want to be able to hang with the best teams in the NBA.

It is rumored that Dallas is looking to upgrade at the power forward and small forward spot, and they are among the favorites to land one of the Golden State Warriors forwards.

The Mavericks have the fifth-best odds to be Andrew Wiggins’ next team (if not the Warriors) after the 2024 NBA trade deadline, per Bovada. This is intriguing, as Wiggins is someone who could help Dallas be considerably better, and they could also potentially get him on a cheap deal due to his lengthy and expensive contract.

This season for the Warriors, Wiggins is averaging 11.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from downtown. He has had a major down year, but maybe a change of scenery in Dallas could help him return to the player that he has been in years past.

At his best, he can be a defensive stopper on the wing who can knock down threes and attack the rim. When he is engaged, he can be elite in his role and would thrive in Dallas. The Mavs need more wing depth, and the Warriors’ openness to trade him could land him in Dallas.

For all the latest on the Dallas Mavericks and their potential pursuit of a trade for Andrew Wiggins, stay tuned.
