Dez Bryant calls out former coach, ex-Cowboys star says he dislikes talking football with ‘certain’ women

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant made headlines in the NFL with big plays, controversial moments and clashes with coaches. Just a few years after retiring, the former All-Pro is now stirring up more controversy for comments on social media.

Bryant, the 24th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, starred in Dallas from 2010-’17. A three-time Pro Bowl selection and the NFL’s receiving touchdowns leader in 2014, he was one of the best wide receivers in football during his prime years.

Dez Bryant stats (career): 527 receptions, 7,506 receiving yards, 75 touchdowns in 119 games

However, Bryant’s career began to derail in 2015. Coming off three consecutive seasons with double-digit touchdowns and 1,200-plus receiving yards, the 6-foot-2 wideout suffered a fractured foot in Week 1 and later dealt with ankle injuries, limiting him to nine games. In his final three seasons in Dallas, Bryant totaled just 2,035 receiving yards in 38 games.

Bryant signed with the New Orleans Saints in November 2018, but suffered a torn Achilles tendon two days later in practice. After missing the 2019 campaign, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens. While he was only with the team for a few months, that experience evidently left an impression on him.

Bryant shared Saturday on X that in his brief time with the Ravens, he was angered by how poorly coached quarterback Lamar Jackson was by offensive play-caller Greg Roman. The change in offensive coordinator to Todd Monken is one of the reasons he thinks Baltimore is an elite team this year.

“Greg Roman to Todd Monken and that’s the difference! My short stint with the Ravens I was livid how much of Just Lamar rare abilities was winning games for the ravens.. he deserved to be coached with a real plan around him… looking from the outside in you can see the difference That’s what I’m banking on

The sentiment seemed to be shared by many Ravens fans, with many viewing it as confirmation that Roman was a big part of the problem in Baltimore.

However, those weren’t the only comments Bryant made on Saturday night that sparked a reaction. After suggesting that Stefon Diggs is the best player on the Buffalo Bills roster and calling for more criticism of Josh Allen, Bryant responded to a fan’s defense of Allen by saying he doesn’t like talking football with “certain” women because they “don’t know their role in talking a man’s game.”

The comment immediately blew up, with Bryant receiving a flood of criticism. He later added that he does enjoy discussing football with some women, but stood by his statement the woman he originally responded to “clearly didn’t know much about the game.”
