Eagles add needed depth by acquiring two young stars who are formerly of rival franchises

The Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos have been going at it since 1960, long before Tyler Hall and P.J. Mustipher were born. Something tells us they’ve heard about the feud though. The Raiders have filled out a few change of address forms over the years, but that hasn’t lessened their disdain for their foes from the Mile High City. The Philadelphia Eagles have their own beefs, with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants among others, but they’ve been around long enough to see what’s been going on in the other conference and occasionally stock their own cupboard by raiding these AFC West rivals.

Recently, the Birds’ brain trust made a couple of low-key signings, two guys who once called Vegas and Denver home.

DB Tyler Hall and defensive tackle P.J. Mustipher are low-risk Eagles signings that could pay off quite nicely.

Sometimes, your idols become your rivals. No, wait… That came from a Machine Gun Kelly dis record. What we meant to say was sometimes, free agency turns rivals into teammates. Yeah… That’s where we were going.

Tyler Hall and P.J. Mustipher, two defensive stars, would have never been on the field versus one another during a Raiders versus Broncos football game. Well, if we’re being technical, Mustipher wasn’t in the Mile High City long enough to get a taste of this age-old Raiders-Broncos feud

Mustipher went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft before being scooped up by the Broncos. He was waived on August 29th of that year and re-signed to their practice squad but was signed by the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints didn’t extend Mustipher after the most recent NFL season. Philly officially announced his signing (and that of linebacker Oren Burks, another underrated addition) on March 19th. We learned a day later that Tyler Hall, a defensive back, has also been added.

Hall turns 26 on Halloween. Like Mustipher, he went undrafted. Unlike Mustipher, he cut his teeth while playing for Wyoming. He has appeared in 31 regular-season games as a professional.

Hall started three games in 2022 and 2023. He also has experience in playing the slot cornerback position. Raider wiz Alex Monfreda offered some high praise recently.

Hall is five-foot-ten and tips the scales at 190 pounds. He has authored 46 tackles, a sack, and four pass breakups. Mustipher has only appeared in four games but has authored four tackles of his own. He’s six-foot-four and tips the scales at 315 pounds.

Mustipher probably has a tougher path to making Philly’s roster as he is in competition with Thomas Booker IV for roster consideration while both are staring up at Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, Marlon Tuipulotu, Moro Ojomo, and Noah Elliss on the depth chart.

Hall joins Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Kelee Ringo, Zech McPhearson, Eli Ricks, Isaiah Rodgers, Josh Jobe, Mario Goodrich, Mekhi Garner, and Tiawan Mullen as the listed cornerbacks on Philly’s current offseason roster.
