Fabrizio Romano says £51m Man City player will now recover from injury to face Liverpool

It has now been reported that Manchester City talisman Erling Haaland will recover from injury in time to be ready to face Liverpool.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano after Norway doctor Ola Sand claimed that Haaland had a “slight twist in his ankle.”

But now, it seems like Manchester City need not worry about the £51 million (Mirror) man’s availability ahead of next Saturday’s clash.

Fabrizio Romano: Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will recover from injury to face Liverpool

The Norwegian striker is having yet another stellar campaign, having scored 17 goals in all competitions so far.

Coming off the back of bagging a brilliant brace in his side’s 4-4 draw against Chelsea, the 23-year-old is bang in form at the moment.

But while there were worries that an injury would keep Manchester City megastar Erling Haaland out of contention to lock horns against Liverpool, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that “he will be fit.”

In addition, Romano added that the knock suffered by the former Borussia Dortmund hitman is “not serious”, despite him being deemed unfit to face Scotland in Norway’s upcoming fixture.

Erling Haaland could be Virgil van Dijk’s kryptonite next Saturday

Now that Erling Haaland seems set to return from injury to face Liverpool, all eyes will be on how his battle with Virgil van Dijk pans out.

The Reds skipper is having one hell of a campaign, with him being in contention to have been the Premier League’s most in-form central defender so far.

But if there is one striker who is tailor-made to cause the Dutchman problems, it is the ex-RB Salzburg frontman.

For starters, Haaland possesses the stature to match Van Dijk in physical battles.

In addition, the highly-rated marksman could also be a nuisance to the Liverpool legend in terms of his ability to run in behind defences, considering the latter is not as athletic as he used to be at his peak. How Erling Haaland manages to deal with Virgil van Dijk’s presence will make for an intriguing watch, as he has all the tools to emerge as his kryptonite.
