Fans React To Giants’ Official Wink Martindale Announcement

After a forgettable 2023 NFL regular season, the New York Giants will need to go back to the drawing board in order to see what went wrong in a year that many anticipated this team to take it to another level as a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.

Defensive coordinator Don Martindale of the New York Giants looks on after the second half of a preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium on August 21, 2022 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Giants won 25-22.

Unfortunately, the Giants’ season came to an end in disappointment, even though they were able to get the best of the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles in the team’s regular-season finale.

During the 2022 campaign, the Giants were the talk of the NFL, as the team seemed to figure things out under then-new head coach Brian Daboll, who went on to win NFL Coach of the Year honors for his efforts in New York.

This year couldn’t have been more different than that breakout year for the Giants, as the team struggled from start to finish, ending the year with a record of 6-11.

Shortly after the season came to an end for New York, defensive coordinator Wink Martindale decided to resign, which was announced by the team on Wednesday.

Here are some fan reactions to the Giants and Martindale agreeing to part ways after the 2023 NFL season:

There are some mixed reactions to Martindale and the Giants parting ways, as it seems that some Giants fans welcome the departure of the defensive coordinator, with some wanting Antonio Pierce to take over.

It’ll be interesting to see what the team does during the NFL offseason in order to help right the ship, as it seems like a lot of work needs to be done in order to get back on track ahead of the 2024 campaign.
