A small contingent of former Dallas Cowboys keeps growing on the rival Philadelphia Eagles as quarterback Will Grier is signing a one year deal with the birds.
The news comes after the Eagles traded for Kenny Pickett to back up Jalen Hurts, which means Grier is looking at battling the former first round pick and second-year Tanner McKee for a spot on the 53-man roster.
Grier reunites with former buddies he worked with in Dallas as Kellen Moore (offensive coordinator) and Doug Nussmeier (quarterbacks coach) are on the Eagles coaching staff.
As far as the 2024 season is concerned, the Cowboys are probably not sweating Grier joining the Eagles a whole lot but the coaching staff the division rival has built is quite intriguing.
Nick Sirianni was believed to be in the hot seat after an underwhelming 2023 season which featured locker room drama. But he’s been given a chance while the front office built a big-name coaching staff with Moore taking over the offense and Vic Fangio shockingly moving from the Miami Dolphins to Philly to be defensive coordinator.
We’ll see if the moves turn out well for them as the Cowboys aim to break the long-standing streak of the NFC East not being won by the same team in back-to-back years since 2004.
