Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan has been plenty busy acquiring free agents in the offseason. While some might view these moves as “aggressive” it’s this aggressive nature and dedication to evolving that has impressed former Steeler Ike Taylor.
Taylor speaks about how Khan is doing things in an untraditional sense, but these moves will help to elevate the Steelers to new heights. The team only has seven picks in the draft, so it was only natural to bring in quality players.
“O [Omar Khan] on a mission. I work with O and we call him the “Khan Artist” you know. O, does it again But O has been doing, in my mind just, you know, a lot of untraditional things that the Pittsburgh Steelers you usually don’t see. Which is a good thing. O is evolving, O is aggressive. O understands, O wants to win Lombardis as a GM and you could tell he’s making the moves.”

Taylor is alluding to the multitude of moves that the Steelers have made. Signing Russell Wilson and Justin Fields will immediately elevate the QB room. That is not to mention landing LB Patrick Queen, CB Donte Jackson, and more.
The Steelers are often quiet in free agency, but going out and finding proven veterans can help take the team to a scary level in the AFC. That’s not to say that every move will pan out, but adding veterans and depth is never a terrible idea.
“You know, and getting guys who you possibly couldn’t get because you only got seven or eight draft picks…Queen is a Steeler, Quan is a Steeler, Lando is a Steeler, acquiring Donte at cornerback, is a Steeler.”

Taylor understands the quality of the players that Khan has acquired. It would be different if the team took a flier on lower-level free-agent players. However, the Steelers are attacking positions of need with quality starters.
