Liverpool still want £30m midfield signing – personal terms agreed, contract sorted

Liverpool are still in the race to sign Andre from Fluminense despite reports to the contrary although Arsenal are reportedly worrying the Anfield outfit.

The Brazilian midfielder is in the middle of a tug-of-war between four Premier League clubs.

Fulham, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all desperate to sign the 22-year-old but we are no closer to discovering which English club he will join.

Flu will be hoping for a bidding war and while the currently want £30 million to sell, strong interest from the Premier League could see that figure bloated.

90 Min have corroborated a claim from Brazilian reporter Emmanuel Luiz, who claims that Liverpool are still interested in Andre despite a story stating the club is “baffled” by the continued links.

So, what’s the story?

This is Anfield initially reported on the story, seemingly ending speculation that Andre will move to Merseyside in January.

However, Luiz has stated a number of times now that Liverpool are still interested and that it is their style of negotiating to hardball clubs.

When asked about rumours Liverpool are no longer interested, Luiz replied: “Not true at all. That’s the way Liverpool negotiate. They’re still in the race but Fluminense is losing their patience.”

90 Min reports that, despite Liverpool spending £146 million to sign Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, Dominik Soboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch in the summer, “they retain an interest in Andre’s services heading into January.”

Liverpool’s negotiating style has, in fairness, allowed them to avoid being extorted the way Manchester United have in recent years.

Speaking of United, they have reportedly “sent a guy” to Brazil to discuss Andre with Fluminense in person.

Luiz told Remen TV: “Now, Manchester United have also sent a guy to Fluminense and they are now interested and could bid.”

While Liverpool reportedly agreed personal terms with Andre, interest from other Premier League clubs is starting to scare the Reds.

Speaking to 90min’s Talking Transfers Podcast, journalist Graeme Bailey said: “Liverpool are still interested, but I think they may be getting scared away by the amount of teams that are in for him now.

“Because Liverpool were in for him when there wasn’t much interest, he was a bit under the radar.

“But now Arsenal have joined the hunt, we know [Arsenal sporting director] Edu has watched him personally.”

A lot will happen before Andre joins a Premier League team so stay tuned to Anfield Central for further updates.
