Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are set to be without Jack Grealish for two to three weeks following an injury sustained against Copenhagen on Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old forward made his return to action for the club in the Champions League after spending recent matches on the substitutes bench whilst Pep Guardiola favoured the likes of Jeremy Doku in a fluid attacking set-up.

Grealish is understood to have been left visibly frustrated in training by setbacks for the first-team squad, but his manager has been impressed by the comeback shown by the Englishman and his desire to return to full form.

However, despite being granted his first start in several matches against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night, Grealish was forced off at Parken after just 21 minutes following an off-the-ball muscular injury.

The Manchester City forward made a short-lived attempt to continue in the Danish capital, but was ultimately replaced by Jeremy Doku, leaving Grealish visibly distraught by his latest setback in what is proving to be a hugely difficult campaign for him on a personal note.

Now, according to the information of The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Jack Grealish is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks following the groin injury sustained against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night.

Grealish and the rest of the Manchester City squad were medically assessed in Denmark after the game, with Jack Grealish’s problem and subsequent timeframe highlighted as being ‘not as bad as some muscular injuries’ by the report.

For Gareth Southgate and his England squad, it is highlighted that Grealish could be back ahead of the Three Lions’ final matches of the season against Brazil and Belgium in March prior to the summer’s European championships.

Jack Grealish has made just 14 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League so far this season, scoring three goals and providing just the one assist as part of Manchester City’s title defence.

Grealish’s injury rules him out of the weekend’s upcoming Premier League clash against Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, whilst the wide forward could now also see himself ruled out of action in six other high-profile fixtures.

That run would include the likes of an FA Cup fifth round tie against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, as well as Premier League meetings with Manchester United and Liverpool alongside the second-leg of City’s UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against Copenhagen.
