Manchester City now think ‘incredible’ 23-year-old target is actually going to sign for Real Madrid

It has been reported that Manchester City internally think Alphonso Davies is likely to sign for Real Madrid in the summer.

This revelation comes from 90 Min after it was claimed in early October that Pep Guardiola and Co. were keen on his signature.

With the Sky Blues yet to have found a natural long-term replacement for Joao Cancelo, it is no surprise that their sights have been set on signing one of the best left-backs in the world in Alphonso Davies.

Manchester City wary of Alphonso Davies transfer as they think he is set for Real Madrid move

Hailed as “incredible” by former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick (via Bundesliga’s official website), it was revealed in late October that Real Madrid were only willing to spend £44 million to sign the 23-year-old.

Even so, this revelation has seemingly not done much to boost City’s chances of landing the Canadian international, whose contract expires in 2025.

The report states that not just Manchester City but even Liverpool, Chelsea and PSG believe that their chances of signing Alphonso Davies are not promising whatsoever due to his desire to sign for Real Madrid next summer.

While Bayern are also trying their best to ensure that the Champions League winner extends his contract at the Allianz Arena, he has seemingly shown no indication that he intends to.

Manchester City can afford not to be too bothered if they fail to sign him

Ultimately, if Alphonso Davies decides to become a Real Madrid player, it would be far from a blow for Manchester City.

Since last season, Pep Guardiola proved that his side can be at their devastating best without even playing a full-back.

After all, the foundation of City’s treble-winning campaign was their impregnable defence.

With Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji all getting better and better as makeshift left-backs, the English giants have no reason to panic if the Bayern speedster makes his move to the Spanish capital.
