Matheus Nunes says Guardiola has an incredible teenager on his hands at Man City

Matheus Nunes has now heaped praise on Manchester City No.82 Rico Lewis – as well as some of his other teammates.

The 25-year-old spoke to Sky Sports about his experience at the Etihad Stadium so far.

So, what did Matheus Nunes say about Rico Lewis? Let’s take a look…

What Matheus Nunes said about Rico Lewis

Well, the Portugal international briefly hailed Bernardo Silva, Rodri and Mateo Kovacic when speaking to Sky Sports.

However, Nunes saved his longest bit of praise for Lewis – albeit still a brief comment.

The Manchester City No.27 said: “I try to look at things others in my position are good at, and see if I can put that in my game to become the most complete midfielder I can be. Bernardo, so good. Rodri, exceptional. Kovacic, so good. Rico Lewis! He’s 19 and such a good player.”

Make no mistake about it – the teenager has a seriously bright future ahead of him.

Lewis has already become an England international under Gareth Southgate.

Pep Guardiola even described the Bury-born wonderkid as one of the best he has ever coached, which speaks volumes given the Spaniard’s spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Lewis is actually being selected to start more than the £53m Nunes.

Guardiola has handed the City Football Academy graduate eight starts across all competitions so far this season, whereas the man from Rio de Janeiro has made five starts.

Matheus Nunes can learn from Rico Lewis at Manchester City

It sounds strange to say that an established international who cost £53m can learn from a teenager, but that is the reality – as Nunes seems to be aware of judging by his comments.

Lewis is clearly doing something right to have amassed more starts than Nunes, amid a time where the summer signing is still trying to prove himself at Manchester City.

Therefore, the Manchester City No.27 could certainly do worse than have a look at what the 19-year-old is up to every day in training.
