One of the worst kept secrets surrounding the New York Jets is that Aaron Rodgers had, and still has, a list of players around the NFL that he would like to play with now that he is no longer with the Green Bay Packers. Some of these players are current or former Packers players themselves.
While Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh deny the existence of such a list, no one believes them. And how could they? How else does one explain the number of former Packers players currently on the Jets’ roster?
Former Green Bay Packers Players on the New York Jets Roster
Allen Lazard was signed to a four-year $44 million contract in an attempt to lure Rodgers to New York. Nathaniel Hackett was hired as offensive coordinator for the exact same reason. After the trade, the Jets also brought in Randall Cobb, Billy Turner, Tim Boyle, and Adrian Amos.Ezoic
Of these players, none had a good season with the Jets in 2023. Lazard and Cobb woefully underperformed and found themselves to be healthy scratches sometimes late in the season. Turner could not crack the playing rotation of one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Amos continued his downward trend that started during his third season in Green Bay and was released midseason.. Boyle, somehow, started a couple of games for the Jets, threw one touchdown and four interceptions, and was released before the year was over.
New York Jets Fans Want David Bakhtiari After the Green Bay Packers Release Him
According to a report posted this morning by uStadium, the Packers are expected to cut left tackle David Bakhtiari in the coming weeks. Rodgers, who considers Bakhtiari one of his closest friends (Rodgers officiated his wedding), was rumored to have had his name on the aforementioned list. Had the three-time Pro Bowl left tackle not gotten hurt this season, the Jets would likely be pursuing him via trade.
However, Bakhtiari did get hurt and has played just 13 games in the past three seasons. His knee injury should be healed by training camp, but the Packers can save $21 million on their salary cap by releasing him.
In the event that he is cut lose by the Packers, Jets fans want him in New York:

Well, if we’re gonna have an extremely injury prone left tackle, might as well have one that’s gonna be elite for the 9 games he plays https://t.co/eZ7Rx1SalT
