‘Passing too much’… 22-year-old Liverpool player says Jurgen Klopp has told him to dribble more

Jurgen Klopp is one of the best managers of all-time for a reason.

The German knows how to make any player better. He’s an expert in spotting what a player needs to improve, and he helps them finetune their game to become the best they can be.

Klopp has done some incredible work with Liverpool’s young players in recent years with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott and Conor Bradley all coming through and becoming fantastic players in recent years.

Curtis Jones is another player who has cut his teeth under Klopp, and his improvement over the past two years has been a sight to behold.

Speaking to ITV Sport, Jones has now shared some insight into Klopp’s coaching when reviewing one of his goals in the FA Cup, and he says that the gaffer has actually told him to dribble with the ball more.

Jones told to dribble more

The 22-year-old spoke about the instructions he’s been given by Klopp.

“Do you know what, the manager always speaks to me about driving with the ball more because that is a strength of mine. I changed and I was passing too much, in that game I was getting loads of space and I went on a run and passed the ball when I had a chance to shoot, at half-time he said to run with the ball,” Jones said.

Strong dribbler

Klopp is certainly telling Jones to do the right thing in asking him to dribble more.

Jones is a fantastic player, but he is at his best when he’s driving forward into space with the ball.

He runs with such speed and power as well as having great control of the ball, and if Liverpool can utilise that weapon as much as possible, then they will reap the rewards.

Jones is starting to dribble more, and it’s made him a more confident and exciting player.
