Phaedra Parks’ Ex Apollo Nida Will Appear at Married to Medicine Season 10 Reunion

Bravo viewers are in for a blast from the past at the upcoming Married to Medicine reunion.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that the season 10 special will feature a reunion between cast member Phaedra Parks and her ex-husband Apollo Nida.

Parks’ costars Dr. Jackie Walters, Dr. Simone Whitmore, Toya Bush-Harris, Dr. Heavenly Kimes, Quad Webb, Lateasha Lunceford and Dr. Alicia Egolum were all kept in the dark about Nida’s appearance, and were shocked when he showed up at the taping in January in New York City, a source tells PEOPLE.

The audience won’t get to see what went down until March 3 when the multi-part Married to Medicine reunion kicks off — though a reunion teaser will likely drop before the season 10 finale on Feb. 25. But Nida hasn’t appeared on this season at all — something that becomes a topic of conversation on an episode of the show recently when he skipped his son Ayden’s 13th birthday party.

In fact, the Married to Medicine reunion will mark the first time Parks and Nida have appeared on screen together since season 7 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

While they left there on bad terms, a source tells PEOPLE that Nida showed up to filming this time around to support Parks and to discuss their life post-divorce, including their cordial co-parenting bond (Parks and Nida are also parents to son Dylan, 10).

Parks, 50, and Nida, 45, married in 2009 and were introduced to Bravo audiences in season 3 of RHOA, when she joined the cast as a Housewife. Cameras followed the seemingly inseparable pair as they welcomed both children and he supported her many business dealings.

But in 2014, Nida pled guilty to a conspiracy to commit mail fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud and identity theft. He was ordered to pay $1.9 million in restitution and began serving an eight-year prison sentence. (It was his second, having previously been incarcerated from 2003 to 2009 for car theft charges.)

His relationship with Parks was fractured by the time he went to prison in 2014, as seen on season 7 of RHOA. Parks filed for divorce in 2015, not long after Nida returned behind bars. Their divorce was finalized in July 2017 — nearly a year after a judge threw out their first divorce settlement because Nida claimed he wasn’t properly informed of the details (and his name was reportedly misspelled on paperwork).

Since then, Parks has dated casually, but she’s mostly kept her romances away from the private eye.

Nida got engaged in 2016 while behind bars and, following his release in 2019 on a shortened sentence, married Sherien Almufti at a small Atlanta ceremony in October 2022. The pair appeared together on reality TV in MTV’s Couples Retreat, which aired in June 2023.

Parks, during a visit to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen earlier this month, revealed that she hasn’t gotten to know the new Mrs. Nida. “I’ve definitely seen her,” Parks said. “We don’t really chat, but I’ve seen her.”

She may have seen her on season 9 of RHOA, when Almufti made an appearance at the soft opening of Kandi Burruss’s popular Atlanta restaurant Old Lady Gang. Though they never crossed paths on camera, Nida’s then-fiancée showed up for filming to send his best wishes.

That season ended up being Parks’ last on RHOA, which was marred by controversial claims against Burruss. She made appearances on a number of other television projects, including Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition, before returning to the Housewives universe in 2022’s Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Ex-Wives Club. She later cameoed on The Real Housewives of Dubai and filmed a season of RHUGT in Morocco, which has yet to air.

Her debut on Married to Medicine came in November, for the show’s milestone 10th season.

As for her relationship with Nida, she’s mostly held her tongue, even after Nida’s season 14 RHOA appearance when he claimed Parks had left him stranded amid his legal troubles.

“When my ex left me, she left me to basically die,” he told Shereé Whitfield. “Phaedra left me to basically rot. When it first happened, she wasn’t there. My sentencing, she wasn’t there. My self-surrendering, she wasn’t there. Basically not allowing me to see my children. There were a lot of things that showed me that she wasn’t there for me.”

That’s all seemingly in the past now.

“Co-parenting is going great,” Parks said on WWHL earlier this month, noting that the kids are “most definitely” with her full-time, but that her ex “does take for weekends.”

“He likes to take them,” she said.
