Jason Cundy has said that Kyle Walker is the greatest English right-back of all time.
On talkSPORT (21/11/2023), the outspoken pundit gave his two cents on Walker’s legacy.
Recently, even Rico Lewis claimed that his Manchester City teammate is “one of the best full-backs to ever play in the Premier League.”
Jason Cundy says Kyle Walker is “England’s best right-back ever”
Signed from Tottenham Hotspur for a £50 million (Guardian) fee in 2017, the 33-year-old has completed club football at City whilst being one of their most key players.
Even last season, the Sheffield-born speedster proved that he is still an elite defender, keeping Vinicius Jr. quiet over two legs in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
Now, Jason Cundy has said that England are yet to produce a better right-back than Kyle Walker.

“He is England’s best right-back ever in my opinion. I certainly can’t think of a better one in my lifetime.”, he told talkSPORT.
Cundy also analysed his performance against North Macedonia for the Three Lions on Monday, saying, “His pace gets him out of trouble. Couple of times though, they did take him on, when you do run at him, he had one or two sticky moments today but overall, he has just been magnificent.”
Kyle Walker should now be considered in all-time great conversations outside of England
While it is hard to disagree with Jason Cundy, one wonders why Kyle Walker seems to be rarely mentioned amongst some of the greatest right-backs in the history of the game.
Sure, some may argue that the likes of Dani Alves, Philipp Lahm and Cafu to name a few were better players than him.
But then it can also be claimed that Walker is perhaps the superior defender to all of them and for this alone alongside the outstanding career he has also had, he deserves to be in the same conversation at least.
