‘Ready’: Pittsburgh Steelers QB Justin Fields Releases Statement Following Trade From Chicago Bears

New Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields had a message for the Chiefs Bears following reports of his trade Saturday evening. The Bears sent Fields to the Steelers in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2025 season.

The sixth-round pick can turn into a fourth-round pick based on playing time. But given the fact that Fields will be Russell Wilson’s backup next season, it’s doubtful the Bears will receive the fourth-round pick.Ezoic

Even though Fields isn’t heading into a situation where he will be the starter, the fourth-year quarterback said in his statement Saturday he is ready for his next adventure. Fields thanked the city of Chicago and the Bears:

“Can’t say thank you enough to the city of Chicago for taking me in and embracing me. Thank you to the entire Bears organization and ownership for allowing me the opportunity to be part of such a historic franchise. But most of all thank you to my all my brothers that I played with.

You all were the reason I attacked each day the way I did. I can’t thank you all enough for what y’all have meant to me over the last 3 years through the ups and downs. I wish each one of you nothing but success. Ready for this next chapter!”

Fields needed a break from the Bears

Fields’ path to becoming a starter for Pittsburgh (or any NFL team) won’t be easy, but he has a good attitude about moving on from Chicago. Frankly, he needed a clean break from the Bears.Ezoic

It’s possible Fields could get an opportunity to impress the Steelers coaching staff during the 2024 season.
