The Seattle Seahawks are continuing to build their coaching staff under new head coach Mike MacDonald, with their latest appointment potentially pointing to them using their top draft pick on a quarterback of the future.

Seattle, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, is hiring Charles London as its quarterbacks coach.

London joins offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and passing game coordinator Jake Peetz on Seattle’s pass game staff, Peetz’s hiring having been reported on Thursday.

Previously the quarterbacks coach with the Atlanta Falcons from 2021-2022 and the Tennessee Titans last season, London will work closely with Geno Smith, the Seahawks quarterback who saw $12.7 million of his salary for 2024 become fully guaranteed this week.

However, London has also worked with rookie quarterbacks, Desmond Ridder and Will Levis, in each of his last two jobs.

That experience could be beneficial for a Seattle franchise that may not be sold on the 33-year-old Smith as a long-term answer for the Seahawks.

Seattle picks 16th in the first round of the 2024 draft. That obviously takes the Seahawks out of the running for Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels and potentially even J.J. McCarthy. However, they could view Michael Penix Jr. or Bo Nix as worthy of a second-round selection.

If that proves to be the case, then London will be a useful voice to have in the building to guide that player through their rookie year having done so in each of the last two seasons with Ridder and Levis.
