The Bachelor’s Joey Graziadei Reveals How Much Doubt He Has Ahead Of Hometown Dates

The Bachelor season 28 leading man Joey Graziadei admitted that he wasn’t fully confident that his journey could work as he headed into his hometown dates. Joey has now narrowed down his group of 32 women to four–Kelsey Anderson, Daisy Kent, Rachel Nance, and Maria Georgas–and he’ll now meet each one of their families on their hometown dates. Joey gave Kelsey A. and Daisy roses for their hometown dates on their one-on-one dates, but he needed more time to decide who should get the group date rose: Rachel, Maria, Jenn Trann, or Kelsey Toussant.

On the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Joey revealed that, going into his The Bachelor season 28 hometown dates with Kelsey A., Daisy, Rachel, and Maria, he was “probably 70/30, 80/20” percent confident that the process would work for him. This was “because I could see the relationships were getting there, but we haven’t gotten to the point of anyone expressing that they’re actually in love with me, if there’s real feelings, if they could see a future.” Joey went on to say that this was because those conversations come later on, and he wondered if the relationships would keep progressing.

Joey Graziadei Doesn’t Want To Judge Women Based On Hometown Dates

During Joey’s hometown date with Charity Lawson on The Bachelorette season 20, his uncle Joe expressed concerns that he wasn’t being his authentic self with Charity. Joey said that, in his Bachelor experience, he “learned not to judge completely off of the hometown because there’s so many dynamics and things that might affect if it goes well or not.” Joey explained that if he “felt any kind of pushback” from a woman’s family members, he would want “to learn and ask more about why. Because I think that it’s important to understand it and not just go with how they’re feeling.”

Because Joey’s hometown date with Charity was a bit rocky, he was able to better understand the concerns from the women’s family members. He said that, although his uncle Joe was “a little rough around the edges” with his approach, he knows that he was protecting him. Joey has always proven himself to be an understanding person, so it’s no surprise that he was able to appreciate the women’s families’ concerns about the Bachelor process. His experience with his uncle Joe helped him to not take being questioned personally as the Bachelor, but instead to work to put the women’s family members’ minds at ease.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Bachelor season 28 hometown dates actually play out after the glimpses that the show gave during the episode 8 preview. There seems to be some of the usual pushback from some of the family members, and also the issue of Daisy telling Joey that she wasn’t falling in love with him yet, which is understandable given the short time frame of the show. Hopefully, Joey’s hometown dates will give him the clarity that he needs as he continues to move closer to an engagement, and they will also help him find his happily ever after.
