Tomi Lahren Takes Aim at ‘Real Housewives’

Tomi Lahren has hit out at the Real Housewives of Potomac cast for their “ridiculous” comments about Florida.

The latest episode of the Bravo reality show, which follows a group of wealthy housewives living it up in Maryland, included a frank discussion about race.

During Season 8, Episode 3, Mia Thornton asked fellow RHOP cast member Gizelle Bryant if she felt anxious about sending her 18-year-old daughter Grace off to college in Florida.

“Yes, 100%,” Bryant replied. “I mean, Florida in my mind is like a whole ‘nother little country of its own.”

The 53-year-old said Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is “acting like a fool,” before explaining the safety tips she’d shared with her “street savvy” teenager.

“My advice to her is, you know, stick with your friends, stay on the campus. Don’t be gallivanting off into the depths of Florida,” Bryant continued. “She’s not going to do anything that will cause her to get caught up into something crazy.”

However, Bryant’s comments didn’t sit well with conservative commentator Lahren, who slammed the reality show on social media.

“I’ve heard some rather dumb s*** on @BravoTV over the years, but this may very well take the cake,” the 31-year-old wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“Listen to these women from #RHOP describe Florida as a racist state that is unsafe to send your children.”

The Outkick host continued: “Not only is that just complete and total ridiculous nonsense, apparently they haven’t been paying attention to the rest of the country, which has descended into lawlessness under democrat leaders.”

Lahren told Newsweek that she’s a “big fan” of the Real Housewives franchise, but cannot “sit back and watch blatant lies be perpetuated on a reality show without calling it out and pushing back.”

“This accusation that Florida, and Republican states in general, are not safe for people of color is utterly ridiculous, reckless and disgraceful,” she said.

Newsweek reached out to Giselle Bryant for comment via Instagram and to Bravo by email.

The Republican state has passed a number of controversial laws since DeSantis became governor in 2019, with the 45-year-old waging a “war on woke.”

In May 2023, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) issued a travel warning for Florida, stating DeSantis was attempting to “erase Black history and to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida schools.”

The NAACP listed several laws that caused concern, including legislation enacted in January 2023 that blocked Florida colleges from spending state or federal funds on diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

The law followed the 2022 STOP W.O.K.E. act, which limits race-based discussions in schools and businesses.

Lahren is a dedicated supporter of Donald Trump, DeSantis’ opponent in the 2024 presidential primaries before he dropped out. However, the Fox News contributor has also praised DeSantis on several occasions.

The politician appeared on her OutKick show last year, in which he detailed his plans to run for president.

In March, Lahren described DeSantis as the “future of the [Republican] party,” urging Trump and his rival to work together to “fight the left.” The following May, she described the Florida Governor as “refreshing,” applauding his vision for America.

“He seems mission focused and I’m impressed,” Lahren wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Sorry, not sorry.”
